Labor needs your help to stop religious schools discriminating against LGBTIQ students
On Monday 3 December, Labor introduced a Bill to protect LGBTIQ students from discrimination by repealing exemptions for religious schools.
Only weeks ago it was clear that there was broad support in the Parliament for removal of discrimination against LGBTIQ students. Before the Wentworth by-election, Mr Morrison told Australians he would address the issue "urgently".
Unfortunately, the Liberals and the South Australian Centre Alliance party are standing in the way. On Monday they voted to delay the Bill and now they're insisting on amendments that would destroy the intent of Labor's Bill.
The amendments would make discrimination against LGBTIQ students worse by allowing direct and indirect discrimination against LGBTIQ students – including allowing teachers to refuse to teach LGBTIQ students.
