No Ice Arena on Sturt Road
At the end of 2022, the City of Marion agreed to a 42-year lease at a site on 262 Sturt Road (the old Croquet Club) to Pelligra Group, for the purpose of constructing and operating an ice arena.
The local sporting clubs are bursting at the seams, and crying out for additional green space so they may continue to grow.
This arena will likely require the removal of three beautiful significant trees and add existing strain to an already busy Sturt Road. A road which, unfortunately, already experiences a high number of accidents and large traffic volumes.
An ice arena would be a great facility for the community. Just not on Sturt Road, and at the expense of our local sport clubs.
